They're a vanity press. You pay them to publish your work.

If you want to take that route, that's up to you, but it's doubtful anyone
will read or buy your books.

Why? Just because they're a vanity press, or because they don't bother to
promote so hard (because they're already got some money from you).

Vanity imprints are well-known and therefore don't get distribution.

Thank you, that's the kind of thing I wanted to know.

Bookshops won't stock books published by Vanity presses.

A friend who works for Biddles, a local book maker (they prefer to call
themselves book manufacturers), occasionally lends me a vanity gem
they've printed that he thinks I'll appreciate. Like Mark Twain, I
delight in hogwash literature.

Did you ever see the Ramsey Campbell article in Shock Xpress? He reviewed a
book published by the "Book Guild" called Science Fiction stories. It
sounded so bad I just wanted to get a copy, but could never find it.

The Internet seems awash with self-published stuff. It's a great confidence
boost.:-)

The book you seek is here. Dare you risk your sanity? Beware! Beware!

If anything happens, I've instructed my wife that it's your fault for
leading me to a copy!

[Is this going to be like a Monty Python sketch, where I drop dead after
reading the "worse story in the world"? Maybe this is the WMD Bush was
after]
