DO YOU WANT AN AUDIENCE? call for submissions

I am looking for groups or individuals that are interested to perform,
give lectures, play music, or make a presentation as a part of my
project at the Frieze Art Fair, which will take place in Regent's
Park, London, UK, 15-18 October 2004.

The event can be described as a modern Speakers Corner.

I hope that you or your organisation might like to make a presentation
of their work in this context. Or maybe you know someone who would -
in this case please forward this information to them.

If you are interested in presenting your activities to a big audience
but are unsure whether this event is for you, please do contact me and
we can have a chat about this.

I'd love to use this opportunity to celebrate CREATIVITY, KNOWLEDGE
AND EXPERTISE.

I have been given a 70m2 space with a stage and sound/light facilities
during the fair and I would like to invite all kinds of creative and
interesting people to perform and inform. It should be like an ongoing
workshop with all kinds of activities. I hope to create a fascinating
and unpredictable mix, it can be: musicians, organizations, poets,
historians, theater groups, dancers, scientists, choirs, buskers,
collectors...

I am interested in most activities except art exhibitions.

Photographic and video documentation of presentations will be given to
the participants. I will be in the space with two assistants and we
will do everything we can to assist.

There will be the possibility for the participants to put up an
supporting information and contact details on the wall, to remain
there. Each group or individual can use the space for between 1 and 3
hours.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

I very much look forward to hearing from you!

Sincerely,

Annika Eriksson

Please contact me via email ***@friezeartfair.com until 10
September.

... but I'm too lazy and inconsiderate to bother making separate posts by
simple writing out my message in a file and ^c, ^v to the posts.

Let me see:
rec.collecting.stamps.
Yes you saved quite a few spamming usenet.
rec.collecting.stamps.discuss
Rather specialist but I suppose some might want to listen in.
uk.culture.arts.theatre
Those folks already have an audience (or are not worth watching)

Those folks already have an audience (or are not worth hearing)
uk.culture.arts.writing
Who on earth wants to watch someone writing?

Apology not accepted. F-U set.

Boy are you desperate.

So, you made a bid for some sponsorship cash but found you couldn't hack it?

Then you couldn't find any working acts through the usual channels so you
thought "I'll spam usenet for a few amateurs and wannabees to bale me out."

I don't suppose you were planning to -pay- anyone to go and perform in your
stead in a draughty, temporary structure on a bit of damp grass in the
middle of a city; oh no, that wouldn't be 'artistic' would it?

Will the same artistic scruples prevent you charging for admission..?

I wish you all the luck you deserve,

Cheerio,
