Hello!

With admittedly some trepidation, I have just published my fifth novel
online on my website.

The fifth in an ongoing series, it is a labour of love and writing is
something I do because I enjoy it and not to make anything out of it (not
that I believe many do anyway!)

Entitled 'Westminster', the novel which runs to some 65,000 words, continues
the story set up in the preceding four novels about a fictitious (but
plausible) UK base crime fighting and policing service that encounters all
sorts of nasty unpleasant types as time passes.

In an ideal world you would probably have to (and indeed I hope you do/have)
read the previous four novels to fully understand the back story, however I
also hope that 'Westminster' is also accessible as a standalone story in its
own right.

This time around, we have a story with plenty of political shenanigans, back
stabbing, bribery, corruption and all the other important things that make
the world go around.

Now I will admit it may not be a work of Shakespeare but as I have already
said I write because I enjoy it and putting the results of my labours on a
website means at least someone else other than my Grandmother (who likes the
novels by the way!) is presented with the opportunity to read my work and
either laugh or actually enjoy it.

The first novel started out as an idea almost twenty years ago and it was
not until the last few years or so that I really started to work on it
thoroughly. From there things just seemed to snowball ever onwards!

The website can be found at http://www.securitynovels.freeuk.com and
features lots of background information about the locations that appear in
the novels, some character profiles, some brief introductions to each of the
five novels plus other facts and trivia.

The novels themselves are available to download in various standard forms
including Adobe Acrobat PDF format.

Also present on the site are some brief details of my sixth novel that I am
currently beavering away on and hope to complete sometime in the New Year,
work and other demands on my time permitting naturally.

Comments and feedback are always welcome but please, be gentle as I bruise
easily!!

Regards and Thanks

John M Upton

Err yes, sorry about that. I wrote this announcement blurb in a hurry on my
laptop whose battery was about to run out. The entire district was also in
the midst of a storm related power cut.

Memo to self, must proof read those little messages! Now I am off to have a
one to one argument with the Microsoft Word Grammar and Spelling Checker!!

Actually, scrub that. Plan B - go and put the kettle on!

This reply has been sent word-for-word to everyone who replied to the
original blurb. I dunno who the hell thinks that looks like a personal
approach.

I put my novel on my website, as no-one was even slightly interested
in publishing itl.

I enjoyed writing it immensly. I could spend all day every day
writing, but then I have a mortgage, kids et al. So even though I can
not spend all day in a bedsit on benefits, writing away - I count
myself fortunate.
